Submitting An Online Application For A Hawaii Marriage License Online

There are two options for the Hawaii Marriage License, Religious Ceremony or Civil Union. Most couples want a Religious Ceremony Hawaii Marriage License even if you do not want a religious ceremony. Civil Unions are only recognized in 5 states in the USA and is not recognized by the US Federal Government or foreign countries. Religious Ceremony marriages are recognized by all states and territories in the USA as well as every country in the World. Same-sex religious weddings are only recognized in countries where same-sex marriage is legal.

The application for a Hawaii Marriage License is submitted online at https://emrs.ehawaii.gov/emrs/public/home.html
One year prior to the wedding day for a fee of $65.

Information asked for on the Hawaii Marriage License application that you should be prepared to provide:

  • * Both applicant’s legal first, middle, and last name before marriage.
    * Both applicant’s legal first, middle, and last name after marriage.
    * Date of Birth.
    * Place of Birth (city/state in USA or Foreign Country).
    * Social Security Number (US residents only)
    * Race.
    * Sex.
    * Occupation.
    * Home address to mail the hard copy of the Hawaii Marriage Certificate.
    * Email address to send confirmation emails.
    * Number of marriages. If a person has prior marriages the date and state or foreign country the marriage was legally dissolved by death or divorce are also required.
    * Both applicant’s mother and fathers legal name, state or foreign country of birth, and if they are still living. If you do not have one of these items you can leave blank or put unknown.
    Couples need to be sure to fill out all this information correctly and make no spelling errors. You will be legally changing your names to whatever is on the form.
  • Choose Kimberly Marie Crinella in the box for Performer (Officiate).
    For couples who filled it out and left it blank or chose another officiate, I am able to update the marriage license to my information when I certify the marriage after the ceremony. Couples do not need to reapply for another marriage license with my name listed as the Performer.
  • The address of the ceremony location is not required when applying for the license.
    If the couple has chosen a location then fill out the address or the name of the beach, garden, park, or venue. Couples can also leave the location blank and I will fill out the location information when I certify the marriage after the ceremony.
