PRINCESS BRIDE THEMED CEREMONY SCRIPT EXAMPLE

I had a couple who asked me to create a custom ceremony inspired by the movie Princess Bride, their favorite romantic movie. I incorporated phrases from the movie into the ceremony script and the vows. Below is a copy of the script…

Princess Bride Inspired Wedding Ceremony

Marriage. Marriage is what brings us together today. Marriage, that blessed arrangement, that dream within a dream!

Ramon and Leticia, you have come here to make this treasured agreement in front of your family and friends, promising your commitment in this holy and magnificent place, today and each day forward.

We would not be here today without love. This is true love. You think this happens every day? True love will follow you forever, so treasure your love, Ramon and Leticia, always.

Ramon and Leticia, you are joined by the bonds of love which cannot be tracked with a thousand bloodhounds, or broken with a thousand swords. Not even death can stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.

Do you Ramon, take Leticia to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, committing yourself to her as long as you both shall live? (Ramon) I do.

Do you Leticia, take Ramon to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, committing yourself to him as long as you both shall live? (Leticia) I do.

Ramon and Leticia, your wedding rings are a circle, they have no beginning or ending therefore, they are a symbol of eternity. Your wedding rings are an outward sign of an inward bond which unites your two hearts in endless love. They are a constant reminder and a celebration of the promises you have made today.

Ramon please place the ring you have for Leticia on her finger and repeat after me:
Hear this now,
I will always come for you Leticia.
As you wish.
Ramon you may now say any words of Love you have for Leticia.

Leticia please place the ring you have for Ramon on his finger and repeat after me:
Hear this now,
I will always come for you Ramon.
As you wish.
Leticia you may now say any words of Love you have for Ramon.

Ramon and Leticia, you have sealed your commitment to one another and your intentions for your life in love together. In recognition of your vows of love, and by my authority as officiant in the state of Hawaii, I now pronounce you man and wife. Ramon, you may now kiss your Princess bride!
